COGNITIVE DISTORTIONS

In Cognitive Distortions, I explore the tension between my fears and the faithfulness of the Lord. Too often, I turn inward, losing sight of the love and strength the Holy Spirit offers. Cognitive distortions—irrational, self-focused thoughts—convince me I am empty and purposeless, like a flower stripped of its petals, exposed to the elements and unable to thrive. Yet God’s truth is greater. He provides the petals, designing them with beauty and purpose, sustaining and clothing us through His divine hand. The artwork’s stark contrast reflects this struggle: a frail, petal-less flower at the center represents distorted thinking, while a vibrant rush of colorful petals encircling it symbolizes God’s abundant blessings.
But if God dresses the grass of the field in this way, although it is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not do so much more for you, you of little faith? Matthew 6:30, LEB
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6–7, LEB
